Herbal Adjunct Therapies

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy involves the use of essential oils distilled from flowers, herbs, plants and trees. It has been documented to work through the limbic, or emotional, part of the brain, and is directly absorbed through the pores, skin, tissues and chakras.

Every oil has multifarious purposes, and can be custom-blended for each patient, based upon their constitutional signs and symptoms, and personal needs.

Aromatherapy is an ancient art used in Egypt, China, Greece and Rome, among other older cultures. The Greeks used aromatic oil to purify their temples, the Bible documents the use of precious oils, such as frankincense and myrrh, for anointing or to be burned as incense. The Elizabethans applied aromas to their skin and clothing (because they rarely bathed). And Hippocrates used aromatherapy in healing baths, massage, and for inhalation.

In Constitutional Facial Renewal, essential oils can be used as a part of the facial massage, added to spring water for spritzing the face clean after a treatment, may be inhaled in order to absorb their unique healing properties, or used in steam to open the pores for further cleansing.

Flower Essences/Remedies

Flower Essences work on the subtle, vibrational level, as opposed to the more physical level addressed by allopathic medicine. In the 1500's, Paracelsus used healing remedies derived from dew, previously harvested from flowers, to treat emotional problems.

So, the use of floral essences was not a wholly innovative concept when Dr. Edward Bach, in the 1930's, researched and identified 38 plants which targeted the subtle vibrational level of healing, and, in so doing, alleviated peoples' suffering. He discovered that the vital life force of the flowers, contained in the distilled floral essence, was what made the remedies effective.

Dr. Bach stated that flower essences "raise our vibrations and open up our channels for the reception of our spiritual self. They are able, like beautiful music or any gloriously uplifting thing, which gives us inspiration, to raise our very natures, and bring us nearer to ourselves, and, by that very act, to bring peace and relieve suffering."

Skin Foods

Skin foods include a high quality cleanser, a toner to further remove dirt and debris, masks, either a regular mask, which revitalizes the complexion and calms the skin or an exfoliating mask, with alphahydroxy acids, that removes dead cells, and leaves the skin's surface smooth and clear.

Then a moisturizer is applied at the end of the session, which protects the skin from the elements. Eye cream is also applied at that time to the delicate tissues around the eyes.

Herbology

Herbology, in both Western and Eastern modalities, embraces an ancient and original system of healing. When using both acupuncture and herbology together, a more complete and constitutional support for healing is enabled.

In constitutional acupuncture, the systemic imbalance is addressed via the diagnostic tools of tongue, pulse, hara palpation, 5 Element hand and Oriental face analysis. Both Chinese herbs and Western tinctures and teas are then selected to support the patient's needs and as part of the totality of the treatment.

Nutritional Supplements

Certain vitamins, minerals and amino acids support and protect the skin from the ultraviolet rays from the sun, pollution, age spots, rashes, scars and wounds, and have been documented, as well, to support collagen production.

Constitutional Facial Renewal recommends and embraces this Western wisdom, as well as the more ancient Eastern modalities.

Self-Care and Home Treatments

In order to maintain the results of your Constitutional Facial Renewal series, it is important to have a regimen of self-care, which includes dietary awareness, an exercise program, an awareness of breath and breathing techniques, stress reduction, nutritional supplements, herbs, and a facial acupressure program.

A specific acupressure treatment will be designed for your face, and will only take 20 minutes to perform. Also, "Facial Gym" exercises, based on particular muscle building techniques, will be added to this take-home plan. The treatments will be updated by the practitioner during booster treatments, as the face changes and becomes more vibrant.
