Astrology and Harmonic Medicine: An Emerging Paradigm of Energetic Healing
by MichelAngelo, Energy Astrologer, Director of Astrological Medicine, Acutonics®

Introduction:

The purpose of this article is to introduce a partnership of astrology with harmonic medicine, a system that translates the energies of planetary movement into healing musical sound.  Harmonic medicine has as its antecedents the theories of Pythagoras regarding the music of the spheres, and Kepler’s formulations of the orbital velocity and trajectories of the planets.  The latter were used in the 20th century to calculate the individual planetary frequencies of our solar system, and to create a sophisticated array of calibrated tuning forks that can be used upon the body in the same manner as acupuncture needles, or to address the various astral bodies; the creators have subsequently incorporated the vibrations of the 4 major asteroids, plus Chiron, into their system, as well as the mysterious Planet X, known to the ancients as Nibiru.  In conjunction with the natal chart, indicative of planetary energies in the microcosm at the moment of birth, and of potential constitutional balance/imbalance, these powerful healing tools permit the practitioner to apply the same cosmic vibrations directly to the body to effect healing and transformation.

background:

Prior to my mid-30’s, I was a professional classical musician, specifically an operatic tenor, and it is only due to an early onset midlife crisis-like experience (probably precipitated by the upper Saturn square at that time, and simultaneous transit of my Moon in Capricorn by the most recent Uranus/Neptune conjunction) that I was compelled to turn away from my outer-directed pursuit of a career as an international performing artist, and inward to the world of dreams, imagination, symbolism, magic and healing.

This latter aspect of healing has been the lodestone of my esoteric pursuits, and I have been for some time now centering my astrological practice on the energies of Chiron, the archetype of wounding and healing (strongly configured in my own chart) in the individual horoscope, and the significant developmental transits of it and the other outer planets.

What has become increasingly obvious to me over time is that the average person who seeks out an astrologer is not interested in healing, and even those who are, and subsequently experience some form of transformation through an encounter with the wisdom of our art, are loath to see the value of a regular and ongoing dialogue.  Most seem to regard healing work of this type to be simply “talk,” even if demonstrable evidence to the contrary is presented, as, for example, when testing of the chakras by various forms of diagnostics before and after a consultation reveals a beneficial shift in the state of the energy field.  They cannot make the conceptual leap to a comprehension that this process is, if not identical, certainly analogous to that which takes place in traditional therapy, in which in frequent and regular meetings between therapist and client are a sine qua non of the experience.

I have also, because of my musical background, been fascinated with the inherent healing properties of sound, and have learned how to use the vibrations of my own voice to this effect.  Consequently, I have sought a means whereby I might bring this modality of vibrational healing into creative synergy with my astrological consultations.

Recently, I have been privileged to encounter a system which, to my way of thinking, permits an astrologer to bridge the gap between esoteric doctrine delivered by way of the oracular voice, and the ability to effect psychospiritual transformation and physical healing through direct interaction with the body and its energy systems.

Moreover, this is a sound-based, non-invasive, healing system, and the central tenet of its philosophy resides in the ancient belief that the planets are integral elements of a celestial vibratory matrix in which we all reside, and that we, as souls who choose to enter the physical realm, become subject to planetary influences, both physical and metaphysical, at the moment of incarnation.  This is, of course, essentially the fundamental premise of astrology, both Eastern and Western; we become “hard-wired,” as it were, when we descend to this earthly plane, and the circuitry that we then carry with us as part of our being is most vividly manifested in the configurations of the birth chart.  It illustrates for us the energetic milieu surrounding our birth, and our continuing evolution as cosmic beings is promulgated against the backdrop of ongoing planetary motion.

This system brings cosmic energies “down to earth,” as it were, and makes it possible for astrologers to utilize their understanding of the planets and their influences as practitioners of a new art of healing, harmonic medicine.

What is Harmonic Medicine?

Sound is vibration, a link between spirit and life force that affects every aspect of creation. Our modern culture has lost its connections to the rhythms and cycles of nature and the universe.  This alienation or disharmony manifests as an imbalance and disease of the body and its systems.  Sound healing seeks to harmonize and balance the soma, psyche, and soul and to reconnect the individual with the natural rhythms, pulses, cycles, and flows of our worlds, bridging, balancing, and harmonizing the inner and outer universes.

Harmonic medicine links ancient sciences and arts with 21st century healing methods and tools.  This holistic modality uses sound and vibration to heal the body, mind, and spirit.  At its roots is a recognition that, in order to truly heal ourselves and others, we must hold a unified view of the cosmos in which all things are inextricably linked and exist in relationship to one another, whether it be an organ system, family system, ecosystem, or solar system.

The system of healing that I am referring to, and which I practice, is called Acutonics®, and it incorporates ancient Taoist teachings of the meridians, pre-meridians, and the immortal body in conjunction with sound.  Developed at the Kairos Institute of Sound Healing, LLC, by Donna Carey, Ph.D., L. Ac., and Marjorie de Muynck, M. A., L. M. P., this treatment is similar to acupuncture. Tuning forks are applied to specific points to access the body's meridians and chakric energy systems.  These forks represent a natural harmonic series based on the orbital properties of the Earth, Moon, Sun and other planets.  They are used on specific points, with high transformational impact on the physical, emotional, and spiritual body.

Unlike many other forms of energy medicine that are practiced today this system is grounded in the wisdom of 5,000-year-old healing practices based on cyclic energy flowing in pathways in the body, and in elliptical and circulating fields outside the body.  The methodology is both scientific and shamanic.  Harmonic medicine aligns, re-harmonizes, and attunes the human energy fields to achieve optimal health, actualization, and wholeness.

The frequencies employed in AcutonicsÒ are derived from the work of noted astronomer and scientist Johannes Kepler, who in the early 1600’s discovered the elliptical paths of the planets (invalidating the centuries-old dogma of circular orbits).  His calculations of the velocity of all known planets established the scientific evidence of the relationship between the musical ratios and the planetary motion – what the ancients called the Music of the Spheres.

Pythagoras may have been the first Westerner to hear and document this phenomenon, and it is he who presents to us a vision of harmonia as the infinite beauty and grace that shapes the cosmos.  It is this harmony of the cosmos that we bring into the realm of healing, attuning the body, mind and soul to these heavenly sounds.

In the 20th century Hans Cousto translated Kepler’s planetary velocities into musical tone.  This work provided a foundation for the frequencies that are an intrinsic part of AcutonicsÒ.  Carey and de Muynck have expanded upon Cousto’s system and calculated additional frequencies for Chiron, the 4 major female asteroids – Ceres, Pallas, Juno and Vesta – and Nibiru.

Although there are a number of alternative practitioners currently working with tuning forks, this system is unique, in that it provides a deep, comprehensive methodology that is rooted in Oriental Medicine and music theory.  By working with specific frequencies and musical Intervals that are tuned to the orbital properties of the Earth, Moon, Sun and other planets, and applying these intervals directly on acupuncture and acupressure point combinations, as well as trigger points, and the chakras.  Each musical combination or interval generated by AcutonicsÒ tuning forks has its own unique healing properties.

Every cell in our body is a sound resonator.  Every cell lives in a rhythmic pattern.  Each organ has its own cycle and its own pulse.  Each and every system has a cycle, rhythm, pattern, and pulse that exist in resonant harmony and sympathy to the cycles of the earth and the heavens.  These body systems respond to sound vibration, as do our spiritual, mental, and emotional states of consciousness.

In ancient times across all cultures, we find reference to the power of sound to heal. In every cosmology and mythology sound is the major link, the carrier wave between the world of the spirit and the people of earth. The ancient Sumerians and Taoists, observing nature, concluded that each piece of the universe is linked to the whole, existing in relationship as part of an interlaced network of divine harmony with humanity at the center, a receiver of energy from both heaven and earth.

A Case Study: L

Consultation chart: initial consultation
(Acutonics demonstration, March 2003)

Natal chart; L

Charts generated by Kepler 5.0; birth data withheld for purposes of confidentiality.

I had occasion to meet L when I gave a demonstration at an Acutonics® Intensive in northern New Mexico.  I had solicited possible guinea pigs via e-mail prior to arriving at the seminar, but no one had volunteered.  However, as fate would have it, L was going through her Chiron Return at the time (which customarily occurs around the age of 50), and was quite interested as to what I might have to say about that, as well as desirous of treatment.

Given the constraints of a lecture/demonstration, I decided to focus on what I felt to be the principal stresses indicated by the natal Chiron aspect structure, and how they were being triggered by the transit of Chiron to itself.  I also decided that the best treatment course would be to address the chakras that I felt were impacted, as I could use a system of energy diagnostics and subsequent treatment that would be simple and clear to the seminar participants.

In the natal chart, Chiron is located in the 3rd house in the sign of Capricorn.  It opposes the Sun, Mars, and Uranus (all in Cancer) in the 9th house.  In effect, it is implicated in a T-square with these 9th house planets and the Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Libra in the 12th house, which is the focal point of this large-scale configuration.  Hence, it is far and away the dominant cosmic energy of her chart, and any analysis and treatment that I might give would definitely focus on Chiron.

How might this 3rd house Chiron have manifested in L’s life?  The Chiron placement indicates that particular area of life where the incarnating soul is likely to experience some deep degree of wounding.  It should probably also be mentioned that, while the Chiron wound is essentially psychospiritual in nature, individuals can indeed manifest physical wounding in the part of the body governed by Chiron’s natal placement in sign and house; they can also experience different degrees of wounding in the these same areas as they are relevant to Chiron transits.

Chiron in Capricorn refers to a wound in the Capricornian sphere of vocation and/or career, ambition, prestige and stature, practical matters, especially business; this is the 10th house of the natal chart, which is one pole of the north/south axis that relates, on one extreme, to family and the native’s cultural and social heritage, and on the other, to that individual’s aspirations regarding their ultimate function within society.  This axis also relates to the experience of the personal parents, although astrologers are divided as to which house relates to which parent.

We are probably safe in saying that as Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, that this wound might have something to do with L’s father.  The opposition of Chiron to the 3 9th house planets in Cancer (Sun, Mars, Uranus) places greater stress on this facet of the Capricornian symbolism; furthermore, as all three of these planets are male significators, with Saturn, which disposits Chiron, also involved in the T-square, there is a strong implication that some facet of this Chironian wounding has to do with the native’s relationship (Saturn/Neptune in Libra) with the masculine energy, embodied initially in her father.  We might speculate that L would have historically found intimate partnership to be challenging, since the developmental dynamic suggested by the Chiron aspect structure would most readily seek resolution through the alchemical opus of relationship.

Chiron in the 3rd house is also in the demesne of Gemini, hence a placement here can relate to some kind of wounding to the throat chakra, since Gemini is associated with communication in all its forms.

We might consider, too, the T-square as indicative of an energetic potential that finds its outlet in the area of the chart opposite the focal planet(s) of the square; we can see that the sensitive point in L’s natal chart opposes the Saturn/Neptune conjunction, and is located in the 6th house, which in this instance, is associated with the sign Aries, ruled by 9th house Mars in Cancer, also involved in the Chiron aspect pattern.  As the 6th house is associated with, among other things, health, we might expect to encounter some kinds of physical symptoms with the Chiron placement, especially given the triggering of the natal aspect configuration by the Chiron Return.  We might also speculate that the individual nature of the Chiron gift might find its expression through the avenue of the 6th house, through work that would associate itself with the same area, health.  Of course, as all of the participants in this seminar were healers of some kind or another, such a conclusion would not entail a tremendous leap of insight; however, we learned that L was in fact a veterinarian, a vocation most assuredly associated with the 6th house in its connection with small animals and pets!

For purposes of my demonstration in this instance, particularly as I had only just received the chart for examination, I confined my observations principally to the 3rd/9th house opposition, and Chiron’s placement in Capricorn.  I asked L a series of pertinent questions relating to the Chiron placement, and received replies that supported my intuitive reading of the chart as outlined in part above.

I then announced to the group that, given the chart configurations and L’s subjective experience of the Chiron aspect pattern and energies generated by the return, I would expect to find that the root, sexual and throat chakras would be impacted by the current Chiron transit.  Saturn, as previously mentioned, rules Capricorn, and was traditionally associated by astrology with the earth element, due to its link with the mythical ruler over the Golden Age, Cronus, in both Greece and Rome.  It also ruled lead, the heaviest and densest of metals according to the Neoplatonic “ladder of ascent”, and hence would also tend to be linked to the lowest chakra.  Capricorn is, of course, also an earth sign.

The sexual chakra is also considered to be the water chakra, symbolizing our connections to others through sexuality, and is naturally involved in relationship, so it seemed relevant, given the high stress on the planets in Libra as the focus of the T-square, as well as the opposition of Chiron to the 3 water planets in Cancer.  The stresses on Saturn and Neptune, both situated in the sign that governs relationship, would further support this hypothesis.  Additionally, Neptune rules the 5th house of love affairs.  Jupiter at the midheaven in the consultation chart is the traditional ruler of watery Pisces; hence its position seems likewise relevant, especially when viewed from the perspective of subsequent events.  It also draws our attention back to the 9th house stellium present in L’s natal chart.  Interestingly enough, too, the Part of Fortune in the consultation chart is conjunct L’s natal Sun at 21 Cancer; this strongly suggests that the transformation of the Chirotic energy and the ultimate realization of the soul’s purpose, embodied by the Sun, will come about by means of the 9th house.  The integration of the Sun/Chiron opposition should certainly be an integral part of this process.

Finally, given Chiron’s natal position in the 3rd house, I felt that this would have a considerable impact on the throat chakra.  Moreover, the native has natal Mercury retrograde, so the natural communicative proclivities of Mercury, as expressed by means of the avenue of the 3rd house, might have been somewhat hindered.  Additionally, Saturn’s shared rulership of that house (with Jupiter) could also be a factor.  It should probably also be noted that many healers have noted what might be classified as a sympathetic “resonance” between the 2nd and 5th chakras, which can be seen to correspond to issues of what I call primary and secondary creativity.  Primary creativity is that of pro-creativity; this function is easily located within the sexual chakra.  Secondary or higher creativity is the province of the throat.  Hence, a weakness in the sexual chakra usually finds an echo in the throat chakra.

Following this preliminary analysis and tentative “diagnosis,” I then tested L’s chakras by means of muscle testing.  This is a procedure in which a level of strength is determined by asking the patient to resist when downward pressure is applied to an extended forearm by the practitioner.  The patient then places the free hand on areas of the body that correspond to the 7 chakras.  If the chakra being tested is weak, there is a corresponding loss of strength and the ability to maintain the position of the arm.  In the process of this test, it was determined that L’s 1st, 2nd and 5th chakras were indeed weak, just as might have been indicated by the natal stress patterns of the Chiron aspect structure.

The treatment that followed was as follows: I employed the 3 Chiron tuning forks from the Acutonics® planetary system.  The precise pitch of these tuning forks is determined by a ratio between Chiron’s orbital and rotational periods; this frequency, due to Chiron’s vast distance from the Sun, falls below the auditory capacity of the human ear, but is simply transposed up by octaves until it becomes audible.  Two of the 3 Chiron forks are pitched an octave apart, and the 3rd is a higher harmonic, designed to be used above the physical body, in the energetic bodies.

I had L lie face down on a massage table, then caused the twin Chiron forks to vibrate by striking them on an Acutonics® acuvator.  Customarily, one allows the patient to first hear the frequency of the forks, holding them close to the ears, so as to attune them to the particular planetary frequency.  I then placed them on L’s sacrum, as the locus of the root chakra.  The reaction was quite intense and immediate; her whole body arched.  When I inquired as to whether she was all right, she replied in the affirmative.  I continued the treatment.  One applies the forks to the body until it no longer seems to absorb the vibrations.  In my experience, individuals who are experiencing stressful Chiron transits respond readily to this frequency.  After two or 3 applications, I then moved the forks to the sexual chakra, then to the throat chakra.  Due to L’s undoubted sensitivity in this area, I did not apply the forks directly, but held them in the air above the throat.

Following this, I then used the high frequency Chiron tuning fork above L’s body, in a sweeping figure 8 motion, working in particular over the chakras previously treated.

The beauty of this system of vibratory healing is that, it dovetails beautifully with many forms of healing and, although rooted in Oriental medicine, can be used on trigger points, points of pain, chakras and in the etheric field.  The practitioner is not required to place the tuning forks precisely on acupuncture points, per se.  Instead, the vibration is transmitted to the area being treated by the body itself, which is, of course, mostly water, and readily allows passage of the healing frequencies. The work is powerful and profound but deeply accessible.

After the conclusion of the treatment, I then tested L’s chakras anew, and the assembled practitioners observed that each of the 3 previous “weak” chakras was now very strong.  Moreover, she reported an enhanced sense of well-being, and we could observe changes in her energy field as manifested through the aura.

I should point out that this same result might very well have been achieved in the “traditional” way, by merely talking to the client, but the overall impact of this treatment in the context of the demonstration was altogether more dramatic.  Moreover, the use of the Chiron frequency to address a constitutional imbalance indicated by the natal aspect structure, now exacerbated by Chiron’s return, provided a vivid illustration of the efficacy of these healing tools as channels of healing planetary vibration.

Observations: initial consultation

The Ascendant of the March consultation chart is Scorpio, ruled by Pluto, indicating L’s desire to experience some kind of transformation through her work with me.  We should note that transiting Pluto, ruler of the chart, is in the 2nd house, conjunct the Moon.  This is a configuration which has been called the Hades Moon by English karmic astrologer Judy Hall, and is customarily indicative of the disempowerment of the native, usually, but not exclusively, female; the channel for this particular trauma is the birth mother, who herself has experienced this negative conditioning.  Thus, this is invariably a multi-generational signature.  We should note that L has a natal Hades Moon, at 0 Virgo conjunct Pluto at 21 Leo; hence, the transits present at the time of the initial consultation served to duplicate a particularly difficult natal astrological signature.

We should note, too, that Mars/Chiron in Capricorn in the 3rd house of the consultation chart hints strongly at the natal Capricorn/Cancer opposition across the 3rd/9th house axis; this is another echo of the initial Chiron configuration, and particularly relevant in light of subsequent events.

The synergy of these two transiting conjunctions, and their uncanny recapitulation of natal chart dynamics, is particularly resonant, and underscores the wounded throat as the crux of the Chirotic pattern.  It would be reasonable to assume then, that, at the time, L was suppressing a great deal of frustration and anger due to the historical wounding in that aspect of the energy field.  Consequently, as she was unwilling to express these emotions, she might have been expected to manifest them externally (suddenly and unexpectedly, given Uranus’ involvement) as part of her process.  That is indeed what transpired; as it turned out that particular combination of Hades Moon and Mars/Chiron in the two throat chakra “houses” manifested quite explosively within the larger context of the Intensive, and L was the focal point of that Uranian upheaval.  Nevertheless, the subsequent transmutation of her internalized anger into an empowering passion allowed her to connect to a more authentic voice when later prompted to defend her community against the depredations of outside forces, as we will see below.

Events prior to follow-up treatment:

Prior to seeing L for a second treatment, we exchanged a number of follow-up e-mails.  I might also mention that, at the time of our initial meeting, I had suggested to her that she might consider expanding her own healing practice to horses, in keeping with the Chiron symbolism, and the emphasis of the Chiron natal configuration upon the 6th house.  As it turned out, Acutonics® had begun to incorporate an equine division within its purview, and L had had a number of very satisfactory meetings with the relevant parties, which directly led to an expansion of her veterinary activities.

She also reported that she had begun singing, which, from my perspective as a professional opera singer, I would view as a strong indication that the throat chakra had begun to open in a positive and life-affirming way.

Perhaps even more significantly, when she returned home, she readily assumed the role of a spokesperson for her community, speaking in public at a crucial planning commission meeting; the community was facing a battle with million-dollar developers which would severely impact their quality of life.  This was indeed a remarkable development, particularly in light of the fact that, when confronted with an uncomfortable situation later during the course of the Acutonics® seminar where we first met (no doubt precipitated in alignment with the energies of the Chiron Return and the initial consultation and treatment), rather than defend herself, L fled.

In the wake of this significant claiming of the power of the throat, L began to have a lot of neck and throat issues, which caused her to have to wear a cervical collar; she may have had a sense of what was to transpire over the next couple of months.  She took a trip with her husband in May; when they returned in June, he filed for a divorce and the rug was pulled out from under her.

The physical symptoms are, of course, in keeping with a Chiron transit of this nature; with Chiron in Capricorn, it is not surprising that she should have experienced some structural difficulties in the relevant area.  Moreover, it seems obvious that the activation of the throat chakra through public speaking precipitated the events most relevant to the Chiron placement, i.e., the relationship issues embodied in the Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Libra as the focal point of the T-square, expressed through the arena of health.  When I saw L for our initial consultation, I told her that I felt that she was receiving short shrift in her relationship and deserved better.  However, at the time, she was not prepared to give voice to the inequities and wounding involved in the partnership.

Second consultation (August)

However, due to the recent events, at our second meeting in August, it was no longer possible for her to sublimate her frustration regarding relationship; L was feeling orphaned, betrayed, and angry, and although diligent with her Tai-Chi practice, she reported that she was “not in her body” or taking care of herself in the here and now.  Nevertheless, the conscious acknowledgement of the anger associated with the Chirotic wounding certainly marked a step forward in awareness, and there was a sense of hope coming through despite the understandable range of emotions.

According to a number of commentators on Chiron, deaths, either literal or metaphorical, are an intrinsic part of major Chiron transits; in this case, it was the inauthentic relationship that would not endure.  This impact of the Chiron Return is undoubtedly paralleled by the ongoing transit of Pluto through Venus’ 2nd house in the natal chart, once again putting emphasis on the liberation of the throat through the transformation of personal values.

Observations: August consultation

The relationship issues, now come to the fore, are clearly reflected in the August consultation chart, with its emphasis on the 7th house (4 planets, including Venus in its own domicile), and with the transiting Mars/Uranus conjunction rising.  The placement of transiting Uranus on the Ascendant is a powerful indication of the desire for greater independence and the transformation of pre-existing notions about the self; it should be noted, too, that Uranus, in the second cycle of its retrograde period, has moved back to approximately the same point as it was at the time of the initial consultation in March, when it was direct.  Mars retrograde in Pisces is probably indicative of a historical tendency to submerge anger, but its position close to the Ascendant in this instance is a likely indicator that this emotion is no longer content to lie dormant; and, in conjunction with Uranus, perhaps to burst forth unexpectedly and violently.

L’s emergent optimism became more readily apparent as she talked about wanting to move into a more profound expression of her vocation as a healer – into a place where she could influence people and mentor and inspire them.  She talked about her desire to become more of a leader, and express the fullness of her identity on the stage of life.  She seemed likewise fully committed to the total restoration of her energy, vitality, and spirit.

The expressed desire to mentor, according to a thought-provoking article by Steven Forrest in a past issue of The Mountain Astrologer, is a derived aspect of the 6th house that has been overlooked by astrologers for some time, and as previously mentioned, the 6th house is the outlet of the dominant T-square pattern in L’s natal chart.  I believe that this is a function of the 6th house that will become increasingly prevalent in years ahead, as those members of the Baby Boom generation who, for whatever reason, have chosen not to have children, will find themselves in this position vis-à-vis the younger generation, as well as those of their peers who will seek guidance as they wrestle with the inevitable transitions from midlife to maturity.

In L’s statements we might see the manifestation of culminating Jupiter, i.e., conjunct the midheaven, in the initial consultation chart, in other words, the fullest realization of her capacity as a healer/teacher and the broadening of perspective that is the hallmark of the Lord of Jollity.  We should not overlook the fact that transiting Jupiter was exactly conjunct her natal Mercury retrograde at that time, working to expand the functioning of that communicative planet.

The emphasis on archetypal Jupiter is further underscored by the presence of the Part of Fortune in Jupiter’s own sign of Sagittarius in the natal chart, in the 2nd house of personal values, a Taurean placement which is once again relevant to throat chakra issues; natal Jupiter, co-ruler of the 2nd, is in Gemini, providing additional emphasis, and recapitulating the Mercury/Jupiter signature active at the time of the first consultation.

Moreover, if we examine the second consultation chart, we note that the Moon is positioned just over the 6th house cusp, and in its own sign of Cancer, that of nurturance and compassion.  The transiting Moon provides a monthly emotional barometer of our inner lives, and its entry into the house of health, healing and mentorship immediately prior to this consultation seems indeed fortuitous and symbolically of great significance.

Such a revelation of the life’s purpose as related by the client during this consultation is an inherent facet of the Chiron Return, at which time the individual may receive initiation into their higher spiritual calling; moreover, it is apparent from the above that the native is entirely supported in this evolutionary movement.

Treatment

Part I

This treatment, as it was not a demonstration, could be somewhat more sophisticated, so I worked down neck and spine bilaterally with the twin Ohm forks to help ground, integrate, and balance the entire system.  The Ohm tone is the foundation of the Acutonics® system, and corresponds more or less to C#.  Acutonics® tuning forks, as previously discussed (there are also planetary gongs, whose impact upon the body is truly extraordinary), are precisely calibrated to frequencies which correspond to those of the 10 planets, plus certain asteroids.  The Ohm fork, associated with Earth, represents the frequency of the Earth as it moves through the 4 seasons, i.e., in its annual revolution around the Sun.  I should point out, as well, that the Acutonics® system customarily employs tuning forks in tandem, so as to generate specific musical intervals.  Each of these intervals has a unique archetypal character, dependent upon the planets involved.

It was important to use the energies of Earth during this initial phase of L’s treatment, as stressful transits such as the Chiron Return are often unsettling, and she is likewise earth-deficient in the natal chart (the Moon at 0 degrees Virgo is arguably more Leonine in its nature, and Chiron, while in the element of earth, is not normally considered in questions of balance, due to its provisional nature as planetoid, escaped asteroid or comet).  Moreover, she had reported her own subjective feeling of disembodiment, as well.

A treatment customarily consists of the installation of a series of intervals, which can increase in size and dissonance so as to remove blockages, after which harmony is restored within the body by a return to an interval of consonance (usually the unison or octave).  In this manner, each treatment functions as a unique musical composition, healing in its intent.

After the Ohm unison, I changed the progression to the Saturn/Venus 5th.  It should be noted that, while the tuning forks generate a number of different intervals, many of them consist of various types of musical 5th, a sonority that is considered to open the acupuncture meridians.  The appropriateness of this choice lies in the issues of relationship and structure suggested by the square between transiting/natal Chiron and the Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Libra likewise activated by the Chiron Return.  The use of Saturn and Venus likewise highlights the two chakras most noticeably impacted by the stress of the transit – the root (earth) chakra and the 5th chakra, the upper outlet of the sexual chakra, and the location of the Chirotic wounding.

In this way, I hoped to help resolve and harmonize influences – authority (Saturn) versus creative expression and relationship (Venus).  Applying the healing energies to the spine helps input the desired harmonics at a deep cellular level; according to Donna Carey, the co-developer of Acutonics®, the spine is the key to our systems intelligence and deep circuitry.  I followed this installation with the Ohm/Chiron 2nd, once again highlighting the profile of Chiron in the earth sign Capricorn, to clear and/or bring to the surface for healing and release any old wounds in the system so new frequencies and consciousness can be brought forth.

The interval of the 2nd is one of evolution, in that it represents a decisive movement away from the point of origin embodied by the unison; it breaks down previous patterns of resistance so as to facilitate the transformation embodied in the archetype.  We might further observe that treatment with the energies of Chiron remains the key to L’s process, because at this point, in the throes of her Chiron Return, she is clearly in alignment with the Wounded Healer archetype.  I completed Part I of the treatment with the Ohm unison on the soles of the feet (acupuncture point Kidney 1) to ground her in the present moment.

Upon further examination of the transits active during this period from the initial consultation to the present treatment, I notice as well that Pluto, now retrograde, continues to trine the Venus/Saturn midpoint at 14 Leo, thus the transformation of the attitudes embodied in that midpoint is supported by the treatment with the energies of the relevant tuning forks.

Part II

I decided to focus on what the Acutonics® system refers to as treatment with the 8 Extraordinary vessels.  These pre-meridian energy gridworks in the body are also called the infinity vessels or the DNA Vessels.  I once again grounded L using the energies of Ohm at Conception Vessel 4, Origins Pass (in the vicinity of the navel).

The treatment was focused on continued resolution and harmonization of the 2nd and 5th chakra issues in order to clear muscle and cellular memory of conflicts resulting from this life or past lives.  Accessing these DNA meridians allows the patient to reconnect with their experience of the pre-natal state, one of undifferentiated wholeness, unity and connection to source, i.e., to the world harmonies.  These energetic pathways tap into the cellular remembrance of unity and give access to the world self, i.e., to the larger, juicier story of the individual soul.  The Infinity vessels I chose were the Chong (Penetrating Vessel) or the ”Sea of Blood”, to access the real root of the wounding and the Ren (Conception Vessel) to reinforce the new birthing of soul and spirit and creative expression.  These are the two most “female” (or yin) vessels; such a choice was entirely intentional, so as to re-empower L and to take the emphasis off the outer authority and the father.

The tuning fork combinations I chose, as previously mentioned, were the Saturn/Venus 5th on both these vessels, followed by the Ohm/Chiron 2nd.  These combinations offer direct harmonic language to the body's energy networks and allow all of the bodies, physical and non-physical, to recalibrate at a profound level.

The treatment ended with a return of focus upon the 2nd and 5th chakras, using the Saturn/Venus 5th and followed by the Ohm/Chiron 2nd, and finally a sweeping above the body with high frequency Ohm and Chiron forks.

Conclusion:

As with most healing journeys, following the conclusion of these 3 consultation/treatments, L has only begun this latest phase of her life.  Nevertheless, I think that it may be readily ascertained that the planetary frequencies employed in this process have served to further enhance the latent attributes of her natal chart, and allowed her to capitalize to a greater degree on the transformative potential of her Chiron Return.

Astrology has historically demonstrated some of its greatest power in highlighting those moments in the individual life where the native’s larger purpose is synchronized with the energies of galactic evolution.  How much more profound and healing the impact of astrological guidance, when the selfsame planetary vibrations that so demonstrably impact the ordinary fabric of our clients’ lives can be used to entune them at the deepest cellular level, so that they may participate to the fullest extent possible in the unfolding of their destiny?
